How the Yazoo County Court Calendar Works
There is no single daily calendar covering every court in Yazoo County. Instead, each court keeps its own. The Circuit Court works in term blocks. A case docket shows the particular setting inside those blocks. Municipal Court runs on a weekly rhythm. Justice Court, Chancery Court, County Court, Youth Court, and federal matters each sit with their own clerks. Each keeps its own date sources.
No standalone public daily calendar with a working search form exists for the county. Rely instead on the docket setting, the current state term calendar, and the right clerk. An old PDF will not save you. Entries get cancelled, continued, or moved before the docket catches up. For an appearance decision, trust the notice, the signed order, or clerk confirmation. Do not trust a calendar page over any of those.
Yazoo County Circuit Court Terms
The 2026 Circuit Court and Terms calendar gives Yazoo County three terms: one starting the third Monday of March, one the first Monday of August, and one the fourth Monday of November. Each term runs four weeks and includes Grand Jury. Read these as statutory calendar blocks. They are not daily hearing lists. They are not notice of your own court date.
One wrinkle on the district number. The 2026 Judicial Directory puts Yazoo in the Twenty-First Circuit District alongside Holmes and Humphreys. The live MEC Court Information page carries a "Twenty-Second" district label. It lists the same counties. A webpage heading should not settle that conflict. For a current setting or a district-number question, the Circuit Clerk is the tie-breaker.
Yazoo County Court Date Lookups
Put the court paper in hand first. A citation, summons, bond, or notice usually carries the clearest date. It also carries the exact case identifier. Then check the docket for the current setting. PAMEC serves participating Circuit and County Court cases after registration. It is not a public calendar for every Yazoo court. When a setting is missing, stale, or clashes with the notice, the clerk must confirm it.
- Read the citation, summons, bond, signed order, or notice for the court and number.
- Check the court docket setting and any current term or calendar source.
- Call the court’s clerk with the case number if the entry is absent, changed, or unclear.
- Ask whether the setting is in Yazoo City, another circuit-district location, or a remote proceeding.
- Keep the notice and confirmation, especially after a continuance or cancellation.

Yazoo County Setting Sources
Which clerk you call depends on the case type. Circuit and County Court files go through the Circuit Clerk. The Chancery Clerk handles divorce, custody, estate, guardianship, and land-equity matters. County traffic tickets belong to Justice Court. Justice Court misdemeanors belong there too. A traffic or misdemeanor case inside the city limits goes to Yazoo City Municipal Court. Calling the wrong office can get you a wrong court-date answer. The right name in hand will not save you.
| Case location or type | Schedule source | Phone |

Note: A court’s term calendar and a case’s hearing date answer different questions.
Court Settings: What Each Field Means
A setting record usually lists the court, the date, and the start time. The room or location appears too, when published. It also names the judge, the case number, the abbreviated style, the hearing type, any counsel or agency shown, a continuance or cancellation note, and remote-appearance details if they apply. Treat it as a planned event. Nothing more. A setting does not prove the hearing happened or that the court decided anything.
| Date and time | The scheduled start, subject to later court action. |
|---|---|
| Court and location | Shows which custodian and place should be confirmed. |
| Judge and hearing type | Can distinguish arraignment, motion, pretrial, trial, sentencing, or another setting. |
| Case number and style | Identifies the case that should be checked against the docket. |
| Cancellation or reset note | Signals that a later entry or clerk confirmation is needed. |
Yazoo County Court Setting Terms
Settings you will see include arraignment or first appearance, plea, preliminary hearing, bond, docket call, pretrial, motion hearing, trial, jury term, Grand Jury, sentencing, disposition, appeal, mediation, early neutral evaluation, and arbitration. MEC adds local flags such as Trial Pending, Plea Pending, Arraignment Pending, and Nolle Pros Pending.
- Continuance
- A request or court action to move a setting; it is not automatic merely because it was requested.
- Docket call
- A court event used to address the status and scheduling of cases.
- Disposition
- An event describing how a case was resolved, which should be read with the actual order.
- Calendar appearance
- A scheduled court event that may change before the appearance date.
When a Court Date Moves
A reset is a docket event. So is a continuance or cancellation. Asking for a continuance does not pull the case off the calendar; only the court acting, or the clerk confirming a new setting, does that. Match the newest docket entry against the notice. If they disagree, call the court. Never assume an old calendar still controls.
Yazoo City gives a more specific rule for its municipal cases. A written continuance request, with supporting documentation, should reach court services at least 24 hours before trial. That gives the staff time to review it. Until the case is resolved, it stays on the schedule. Keep in mind that this is a city rule only. It does not bind Justice Court, Circuit Court, County Court, or Chancery.
Yazoo City Court Dates
The Yazoo City Municipal Court page says its court dates are always Wednesdays. But the ticket or bond supplies the actual date and time. First appearance is called arraignment there. Plead guilty or no contest and the case moves to sentencing; plead not guilty and you get a later trial date. Municipal trials are judge-only, with no jury. The local page also points to a public defender option.
Miss a municipal traffic date and the city allows ten business days to pay. After that, written notice goes out. Suspension or warrant action becomes possible. Ask the municipal court about your immediate status rather than treating the Wednesday pattern as the whole schedule. An incident out in the county belongs with Justice Court or the Sheriff. It does not fall automatically to the municipal office.
Missed Settings and What Comes Next
Missing a setting matters, and the fallout turns on your court and your case. Keep the citation, any notice, and your case number close. Hold onto anything that confirms the date too. Call the clerk who keeps that Yazoo County docket right away and ask plain questions: is the case still set, has a new hearing date been issued, or does an order already cover the absence? Rely on what the clerk tells you, not on a stale online calendar, before you decide whether to appear.
Confirm before appearing: A current docket setting, party notice, signed order, or clerk confirmation is more reliable than an old term calendar. For an urgent missed-date question, contact the court that holds the case and obtain legal advice where appropriate.
Municipal traffic rules in Yazoo City are local. Another court may handle a missed hearing, bond, continuance, or warrant quite differently, so ask that court directly.
Yazoo County Federal Calendar
Federal cases do not run through the state courts. Yazoo County sits in the Southern District of Mississippi, Jackson/Northern Division. The district's official docket page connects you to the federal daily docket and its index. PACER serves as the reader service. CM/ECF handles filings. Neither one will answer a question about a state Circuit or County Court setting.
Federal bankruptcy hearings follow the Southern Bankruptcy Court's own calendar, which posts a Chapter 13 mobile calendar app alongside it. The court itself warns that official notices control the authoritative date, time, location, and telephonic status of any hearing. The official bankruptcy calendar app description explains that you can search by attorney, debtor, or case number.
The bankruptcy calendar source remains secondary to the official notice for a specific hearing.
Yazoo County Calendar Changes
Federal bankruptcy rules shift on their own schedule, apart from the Yazoo County state calendar. The Southern Bankruptcy Court's standing-orders page flags local-rule updates taking effect in 2026. A party in federal court should follow the bankruptcy court's current orders and notices. A state-court term calendar will not govern a bankruptcy setting. Southern Bankruptcy Court standing orders are the current federal rules source.
Your case number helps with both a docket search and a clerk call. For participating state courts, the Yazoo County Docket Search route can help you find a setting before the court confirms it. Treat any result there as a lead. The court's own confirmation is what counts.
